New Alkie on the block

Greetings,

I got sober a couple days ago. I feel like crap. I look like crap. I'm in a very bad mood. I'd like to go to a meeting and find a sponsor, but right now I just want to lay here and detox.

I've always been a closet alcoholic. I hate drinking with others, yet I would - -only on rare occasions. Hard liquor, wine, beer, you name it. I've been at it for about 18 years and it's time I stop. Most of my friends, gone. Girlfriends - Gone. When I drink I am not a likeable fellow. At all. And I binge - - morning, noon, night. Just drink, drink, drink. I'm catholic and went to confession recently, so I did the fifth step. I told everything. But, right now, I don't feel like talking to God, a Priest...I just want to lay here and be miserable a little longer. My digestion is all screwed up, dark circles under my eyes. I really do look like Night of the Living Dead. Anyway, that's how I feel right now.

Glad to be aboard.

Michael

What a great first step! Be kind to yourself as the poison leaves your body. It is painful. I feel you. Welcome to SR!

Welcome! I was a closet drinker too - couldn't get home fast enough to get wasted by myself.

I used to drink around the clock too. The first four days detoxing were worth ending it tho. Hang in there. Good luck!

to SR! After detox is over you should start feeling better. Give yourself time and good food, rest, and some exercise and you'll be feeling better soon.
