New to this, but not new to trying

I've tried to quit drinking several times, but never took it too seriously. I know I have a problem and want to seriously try to stop. I hope this website will help. I'm not really sure what to do?

AA worked for me when all else failed. AA will teach you how to stop and how to be happy again. I found that I could not out think this disease I had to take action.

Welcome, Katee! You are in the right place. Just keep reading and post when you feel like you need a nudge in the right direction. I'm also very grateful for AA. The fellowship has changed my life. SR and AA keep me accountable. I see a lot of faces (and usernames) when I pass a liquor store.

Thank you for the welcome!

I don't really want to go to AA. Plus it is a long distance from where I am to a meeting. Is there anything that doesn't involve going to meetings? Can you do AA without going to a meeting?

Welcome, Katee. I joined SR 38 days ago and I have managed to stay sober since then - my longest period of sobriety in......forever. The good people here at SR have been incredibly supportive and helpful with their first-hand knowledge and advice. The chat room is also very good. I hope you will post often. I am glad you are here with us.
