Five weeks!
It is five weeks today since my 'day one' I am amazed and pleased to say.

I am feeling better than I have in years. I don't miss drinking at all - in fact its very nasty impact and influence on me feels nastier and more insidious the more I think about it and the further aware the booze recedes. I am sooo relieved to be rid of the damn stuff.

Thanks to all at SR - this forum and my AA meetings have been the support I needed to do it..and to continue with it.

..and to anyone struggling - just don't drink today. That can be the beginning. The first few days are very tough but it does get easier..and even at five weeks - a whole lot better! Even me - a drunk with a decades long history can do it!

Thank you all. As it happens it is also my (real) birthday today, so lots of reasons to be thankful!
