Hello,

My name is Bruce, and I am an alcoholic.
I have been an alcoholic for many years, albeit a "functioning" one. I am about to have gastric bypass surgery in a couple of weeks. After the surgery I will not be able to consume any alcohol for at least 12 months. I am hoping this will cure me of my addiction.
Any advice would be helpful.

I've never had that surgery but I know others here have.
I'm sure they'll have some input on it and how the aftermath was for their alcoholism

It would be great for you if that was all it took.
How long have you been drinking tho? decades?
