First outing where alcohol was being served

Tonight I went to my first event where alcohol was being served. It was an event for the local humane society for an upcoming initiative to have pets fixed to control the local pet population. It was hosted by a local restaurant and a local brewery that I used to frequent.

There was a keg right when you walked in and beer was flowing freely. I walked right past and poured myself a nice glass of ice water and enjoyed the food and the event nice and sober. I wasn't even tempted to grab a drink and ended up really enjoying myself. I was actually more social and confident than I used to be in the past when drinking at social gatherings. Go figure!

Way to go! How long have you been sober? At 54 days sober, I still don't trust myself to be at events where alcohol is served. You are a very strong person indeed!

Eleni I'm 16 days sober today so I was definitely hesitant about going this early on. Thankfully, the event was pretty low key so I was able to comfortably socialize without pressure from others.

Yeah, you're early in, but you kicked butt staying sober. Some folks have a harder time with this than others, but it sounds like you actually drew strength from it re: being more confident and social. Congrats.
