Quick check in

Hi everyone,

I've been going ok lately. Not perfect but ok. I'd like to check in later tonight too.

Read a post I wrote from only a few weeks back saying 'I still want to drink moderately'. Fair bit has happened over the last few weeks, and without going on to much, I don't want to drink at all anymore.

Again there's a longer story I could share but right now I'm just doing this day by day. To be honest I'm not even sure how relevant that longer story is - I just don't want to drink. That's that.

Been feeling a bit of anxiety as a bit more sober time has given me some reflection in how lucky I've been to even keep my job given how much I've really 'played it', but again not sure what good it will do getting hung up on the past.

Feeling positive

I am new to being sober and my brain keeps trying to tell me the same thing. It tells me it that everything is fine and I will be able to drink in moderation. I know it is a lie since I am rip roaring alcoholic. I hope my brain will eventually stop thinking this way.

So happy to hear Kys! The details don't matter--as long as you realized you cannot drink in moderation and you're back here posting, that is what truly counts!

An alcohol free life is so very wonderful!

Home after seeing a movie with a friend, I miss doing things like that, just generally living as opposed to binging in my apartment.

Looking forward to a sober sleep. Thanks for the support guys, will be back

Stay sober and you'll start feeling a lot better. It takes effort but is worth it.

Our brains work in exactly the same way. My keeps telling me the same thing. A glass of beer or wine wont really hurt, I can stop now, see.

Just one drink will make me feel good again.

The usual self deception, I have to tell myself, that its the addiction talking, not really my brain.

Hi Kys. I'm glad you've made that big decision. Stopping completely was the only way for me, too - and I tried everything to hold on to it. In the end it was so much easier and less exhausting to just kick it out of my life. Now I look back at it as a bad habit that held me down for many years and did nothing to make life more fun or easier. Wish I hadn't been such a slow learner.

It is nice to see you Kys. I am glad that you have decided that you don't want to drink anymore. It is a big step but I know you can do it. Congrats on your sober time.

Thanks guys, great to hear from all of you.

I've pushed myself to make some changes. Still getting used to it a bit but it hasn't really been near a big a deal as I'd make out to myself.

Will be back tonight

Dinner and book. Sober

Will get an early night, I'll probably get a good 10hrs sleep, feels like my body needs it at the moment. I've spent a long time usually binging past midnight during the week only getting a few hours sleep before work, so I think my body appreciates the rest.

Thanks as always everyone. Will read a few posts tonight before bed and be back tomorrow

It is amazing what our bodies will tell us when we get our minds out of the way.

I was never a night owl but I did stay up later than I should have when drinking. Basically I waited until I passed out, I never "went to bed".

Now if I am tired, I just go to bed..lol Nothing wrong with getting some extra sleep and if there are times I am up a little late it is no real big deal. My body and mind seem to work okay with a little less when I have not poured a fifth of whiskey into it.

Goodnight Kys! Sweet dreams. You, and all of the good people fighting so hard to win back their lives make me feel so proud, so thrilled. Good for you. I know it sounds trite, but I mean every single letter of those three words. GOOD FOR YOU!
