100 days
I am checking in with 100 sober days on Friday the 13th. I have been faithfully attending my medical program meetings 5 days a week and AA meetings 7 days a week. I orginally got sober back in 1981 and was sober for over 26+ years. I have been very grateful over these last 100 days to have found that I really did to lose those years of sobriety. I am quickly returning to my sober self and am very grateful.
I have been asked to lead an AA meeting tomorrow and after listing several topics have settled on "We are not a glum lot" and how humor is good for our minds and bodies. Good topic....honesty please.

Congratulations on 100 days and 26 years before that! I love this topic for an AA meeting. I'm still struggling to stay sober, but whenever I can get more than a couple of weeks booze free, I actually begin to laugh and realize that I never laughed much while drinking. I didn't seem to be able to really enjoy humor or truly find anything funny - probably because I was always so miserable. Between that and the fact that a lot of people in AA seem to be incredibly reflective and witty, and have great stories anyway, it feels like I've laughed more in AA meetings in the past month than I have in the last several years. I think this is a wonderful meeting topic!
100 days is an amazing achievement - your an inspiration to those of us with less time under our belts
Good luck with hosting your meeting and I think that humour is very important in the process of recovery one of my favourite threads here on SR is the Limerick page, I find if I write out some of my pain in rhyme it takes away some of the power it has over me.
Best wishes Vicki

Congrats on 100 days and that sounds like an amazing topic. Wish I could attend your meeting. While alcoholism is a serious issue and I get a lot out of those ultra-serious meetings, it's also amazing sometimes to unexpectedly get one of those meetings where everyone is just in a joking and laughing mood. Those meetings seem to magically happen when I need them the most.
