Why is it when I don't get enough sleep I feel hungover?!
I made the mistake of staying up very late last night watching sports. I haven't had a drink in 68 days, but when I woke up this morning I felt so hungover. I just put my contact lenses in and they feel like I've got sand in my eyes! Gonna head to the gym so hopefully that helps shake this hungover feeling.

Oldselfagain, science folks say that when we lack sleep our metabolism slows down drastically, and blood sugar rises up along with it. I believe it has somewhat to do with that hungover feeling. Go easy on yourself in a gym today)
P.S. I hope the fight was worth staying up late)

Interesting
Feeling better now. I think the pre and post workout aminos helped.
Midnight the first couple of sets were rough, but after that not too bad. Fired up the heart rate pretty good when I did cardio...think that helped too. I won't comment on whether the fight was worth it until after you've watched it...then we can discuss

Did you drink enough water when you stayed up late? Lack of hydration is one of the causes of a hangover, so if you didn't drink enough water, you might have experienced hangover-like symptoms because of that.
Or this might just be your reaction to lack of sleep. Many people don't feel great when they don't get enough sleep. Or it's a combination of not enough water and lack of sleep.
Let me guess, you take the pre and post workout aminos with water?
Btw, this is not on topic but I still want to say this since you brought it up. Recently there has been new evidence that certain workout products contain ingredients that can be very harmful to your health. I used to use some products as well and always investigated them, doing an in-depth search for each ingredient. And now certain ingredients that were supposed to be ok are actually very harmful according to new evidence.
Also, there is no proof that any workout supplement actually helps if you keep a healthy diet. I used to use them as well but threw them out. I didn't notice a difference as long as I ate well.
Actually, this might be on topic after all. Could it be that the workout products you use cause your hangover symptoms if you don't sleep enough? You could stop using all the supplements for two weeks and then deliberately stay up late and re-create this situation. Then see if it feels the same.
And remember the hydration.

Hi Oldselfagain,
I hope you're feeling better. I learn something new every day on this board. I've also experienced this same thing. This is probably the 4th or 5th post that I've seen like this so it appears to be common.
It's a bit unsettling isn't it? I think we are consistently learning about our body because there's no more fog and dismissal. I hope your workout makes you feel better.
Oh yeah, no discussion about the outcome of the fight! If you watched what I think you did we're waiting until next week to watch it free. Pay Per View was just a bit over budget!

Oldselfagain, I've watched the fight)
Well, I won't go into details since there are other people who haven't seen it yet, but I can say I really enjoyed it.
