Just an Intro
Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to introduce myself and make my first post. After nearly 30 years of drinking, sometimes a lot, sometimes a little (but more often a lot!), I finally decided I was sick of the hangovers and shame. I had my last drink 19 days ago and I can say that so far it has not been as bad as I had feared. I have read around on this site and find everyone to be very supportive and down-to-earth. It's nice to have a place to give and receive encouragement from others who have been or are going through the same thing as I am!

This is an awesome place, congratulations on your decision.
SR has been the difference in me picking up and not picking up quite a few times. The people are phenomenal. Glad that you decided to join the family!

Hello and welcome. And, congratulations on 19 days, that's a great start.
I had a long drinking career, too.

Hi Grace, welcome to SR. I came to the site already sober for a short time, and I really believe that hanging out here has kept me sober. I can't recommend it enough.

Hi GotGrace, you will find lots of encouragement here and will draw strength from other's posts, just as I found strength from your post. I drank daily for 34 years and today is day 20 for me. Welcome to the SR community.
