day 19 and really want to drink.

My neighbour locked the security door at my apartment block so I can't get to my apartment. He is refusing to open the door. I have 1 hour until I need to collect my children from school and there is nothing to do but go for a walk or go to the pub now. I am seriosly pissed off and just want to drink so badly. Only will power is stopping me at this point. He better open the ******* door by 4pm or I swear I will knock the door down and rip him a new one.

I have 7 hours worth of study due tomorrow and I cant even start on it so I am just wasting time.

I'm sorry to hear about your nasty neighbor, Fishy. Good job for posting here instead of going to that pub. Don't punish yourself with alcohol just because he's a jerk.

I've been there, but you know how silly this sounds, right? You're going to punish that jerky neighbor by poisoning yourself? Take a walk, get a soft drink or something and cool off.

Well I get to start the 1 and a half hour walk to get my kids from school as my transport pass is in my house. Then hope I get them home in time for my ex husband to get them. If I miss him, I have the kids all weekend when I have field work for university I have to go to or it is an automatic fail. Not the mention the 7 + hours of stuff I have to complete by tomorrow for University to stay top of my subjects so I can go into post grad.

I am beyond angry right now.

So angry at him

Sounds totally frustrating, Fishy.... Try to take some deep breaths and just focus on the "now".... It's OK to feel angry, but don't let it be a reason to drink. You'll be a lot angrier (with yourself) if you drink over this and then you won't get a thing done...

Be proud of yourself for staying sober through an emotional time. Things are going to be OK!

You have every right to feel anger and frustration right now. Feeling the feelings won't kill ya...but reacting foolishly might. Everytime I am overwhelmed by negative emotion..it's like a drink starts flashing in neon before my mind's eye. I imagine it will for awhile. It will fade in time I figure.

It's okay to be ticked off. It's a frustrating and anxiety inducing situation. What the heck would a drink do? Getcha all boozy to pick up your kids?

Wow, I'd be absolutely furious too. But don't let this neighbour drive you to drink. No one and nothing can make you drink.

I didn't drink. I just walked for over 3 hours and now I am exhausted and my feet are on fire. Pain over alcohol I guess.

I got the police to come and open the door. The neighbour now has a record. Sucked in idiot.

Yep, the pain of 3 hours of walking is much more rewarding than that of an all-day hangover/withdrawal!

Well to calm down, I went for a motorbike ride and a few hours of swimming later that night at the swimming pool.

I made it to my field trip for university.

Tomorrow will be 3 weeks.

Yay!
