8 days sober OR I could say 'I'm into my second week of not drinking'...

I'm going with the latter.

Tomorrow I am going out with a very good friend who is/was also my drinking buddy. I suggested we go see a movie that we both really want to see. That's what we're going to do tomorrow. Both of us have work on Friday and have already agreed that we go home afterwards. If I'm honest I suggested tomorrow night because I knew we wouldn't want to go out due to work commitments. I lied and said I couldn't go on Friday or Saturday. That would have been too tough a task for me and I'm not ready for that yet.

Tomorrow also marks 5 years since my fabulous sister died and it will be great to spend it with a good friend, watching a silly movie and laughing a lot. I also want to be sober and feel whatever it is I'll feel. I've always drank through those feelings.

So...as I am now in my second week of sobriety I will continue to check in daily with SR.

Friend, It's OK to pat yourself on the back every once and in a while for a job so far well done.

Eight days! That's fantastic! It sounds like you have a good handle on things and know your limits. It's something we all need to keep in mind. Thank you for posting it has given me something to think about ... what are my limits? Who can I go out with on a Sat or Sun? What parties are safe enough for me?

I'm sorry to hear about your sister. It's wonderful that you're keeping her in your thoughts.
