Day 8.......then epic fail
I don't know. Yesterday was a terrible struggle. Tonight craving started about 6pm. I read, watched a movie, posted on SR, read the Bible. Then at 1030pm, I said enough is enough.
maybe that's the time you need to come here raider?
I know it's a struggle and some part of you will really want to give in and drink - but you have fight that part.
it's important not to give up, because the only person you're giving up on yourself, really.

I've found over the past five days that the best way to fight cravings is to 1. Come to SR and read. 2. Do anything but give in even if it's just sitting quietly in my chair. 3. Drink water, tea, chocolate milk, a virgin cocktail (if that's your thing). Anything to trick your brain into thinking you're giving in. You'd be surprised at how well that can work for the psychological cravings. Physical cravings are different though.
Do you have any alcohol left over, Raider? If so, maybe dump it out. I know it was easier for me to dump mine when I was already drinking. And the next day it would have cost me to go buy more, and a reminder that I really am an alcoholic and need to take drastic measures to stop for good.
I ended up dumping the remainder of three 1.75L bottles of whiskey on three separate occasions while drunk before I finally quit going to buy it again the next day. I did so for me and my wallet.
Put a little pressure on yourself right now, and it will be easier to get back on the wagon in the morning.

Ima - my husband drinks. There is liquor in the house. I don't know the plan for tomorrow. I just am having one drink and crying the whole time. What is with the tears already? I'll deal with tomorrow tomorrow.
Hey Raider,
I hope you get some good rest tonight.
I know how excited you are for sobriety. Your enthusiasm comes through in your posts and in the encouragement you give to others. Your voice is important, more important than your AV. You're a great cheerleader and one of us Septembers! I know I want you to finish the month with me, lady!
You've made mention of your faith before. When times get tough for me, I like to have gospel time with Sam Cooke and the Soul Stirrers. If you go on YouTube, search the songs, 'Touch the Hem of His Garment,' and 'Jesus gave me Water.' These songs provide me so much comfort when I'm hurting. I usually play them about 20 times each and think of everything with me and my pains and confusions (physical, mental and spuritual), how great classic gospel is, how amazing the lyrics are, how Sam Cooke had so so much talent and how tragically his life ended due to his addiction.... I never not cry when I do this, it's ultra cleansing, cathartic and comforting.
Hope this helps, I'm sending you hugs and wishing you a wonderful Wednesday.
Best,
Melina
