Weekend Blues

HI EVERYONE,
I hope you all had a great and sober weekend. I did not. I did'nt over do but I did drink. Ill start over tomarrow. To everyone out there, you are so much help to each other. I know that i need you. All weekend you all were on my mind. I knew that I was'nt alone. Because of that even though I knew I was screwing up I still knew I could start over and try again with full support.
THANK YOU ALL AND HANG IN THERE. TOMARROW I TRY AGAIN

Welcome back Diana,
You can do this and we can offer you lots of support.
If you have trouble getting past noon, my suggestion is to deliberately vary your routine. Purposely do something else at that time that will, somewhat at least, take your mind off drinking, even for a few moments. Plan to do something physical like a walk or some shopping or call someone. For me, that helped a lot to get me past the difficult time of day.
Keep posting.
Love, Anna

Hi Diana
Anna has some great advice, keep busy, get out of your head.
When you get bucked off you have to get back up and get right back on the "sober" horse. I have been bucked off many times, coming to SR has been like a wonderful seat belt, keeping this girl in the saddle...

The guilt would mess with your mind more if you had a lot of clean, recovering people in your real life that you would have to face after you had a drink. That is part of the power of NA and AA. Once you start to "get it" and have all those clean, recovering friends to face after a relapse the guilt can be quite embarrassing - as it should be. In fact, the act of drinking and drugging itself looses it's "normal" enjoyment...because you change your belief and value system when you adopt AA/NA. Before it was ok to use a drug and now you know it is not. No matter how bad you or I feel it is not ok.
But there is a fine line you have to walk after a relapse. Too much guilt and you don't come back soon enough, too little and you go back out too often.
I used to ask myself, "when are you going to stop ice skating up hill?" Part of what helps me to stop is working my recovery - and that's like being on television. I realize what a dork I look like trying to ice skate up hill and I don't much like the inevitable falling down part anyway.
Welcome back to the down hill side.
