4 Years Finally!
Hello, I came across this site and began reading a little and found how helpful and wonderful so many of the comments/members are!
I've been in and out of sobriety since 2001. An intervention helped me to begin my recovery at Betty Ford February 2003. It was an excellent experience where I learned many tools. I then went over to Sober Living By The Sea in Newport Beach. There I stayed for 3+ months and again, learned many many tools. I also met some very good councilors as well as friends, I was enjoying the sober life.
Long story short, I moved a few times and ended up back in WI. Sobriety came and went, but now I've been sober for 4 years. Unfortunately it took a consequence of an OWI, thankfully that’s all it was. No one hurt, just money and my pride. That was to me as if Gods grace thought it was time for me to get a little push. It worked, at least so far!
I now attend an AA meeting on the weekend and Celebrate Recovery on Mondays. To me it's the perfect combination. But all I have is today and I need to remind myself I need a program to keep my sanity.

Welcome aboard jlo. I am right behind you going three years in a week and a half. I am afraid I am not doing any repeats of the drinking and detoxing, once was enough. I hope you find the support to be there too here on SR. I did.
Gruffmusic,
Whaddya mean you can't wait until you have a real milestone like that? 3 days was huge for me! One week was a bloody miracle for me. A month and I had to believe in some kind of HP because I could not make it past one hour awake without a drink, until I did. And now you are joining us in stringing together a life, one minute, hour, day, week, month, years, at a time. It isn't about time, just being in it.
Congrats on your real milestone too.

Jlo, you and I have lots in common! I'm at four and a half years, I also lived in sober living in the OC, but for two months, and I love Celebrate Recovery. I often talk about my time in sober living, because I found it so enormously helpful, but haven't met too many on SR yet who have lived in this type of recovery home, or the few who have didn't like it. I also love Celebrate Recovery, because the meetings are so wonderful. We always start with live music for about 30-45 minutes, then go over a step study lesson or hear a testimony, then break into small groups for an hour (there is so much help available at CR, not just for alcoholism/addiction), then food, coffee/tea and friendship. This is every Friday night, and I'd rather be there than anywhere on Friday. I havent been to any other SR meetings...is yours the same?
Anyway, welcome! Great to meet you!
