Smile sometimes, it's the little things that make life sweet

i'm pretty bubbly with excitement. my husband bought me a new bike today. well, it's been on layaway for a month and i got a new job so i helped but he's the provider and this was definitely a gift from him. it makes me so excited about biking to work in the morning. i keep checking the 10 day forecast for rain and am excited to see all the clear weather. my new bike slices through the road like butter compared to my old bike (which is an old friend and will stick around). i'm looking forward to a clear morning with the wind in my face. i'm looking forward to riding around when i get the afternoon off. i may even pack some gym clothes and bike to the gym but we'll see about that.

just to be clear, i got into biking out of necessity. i crashed my car into a small tree (i'm sure i don't have to explain myself) and my car's pretty banged up now. i didn't get an OWI but i'm just lucky there. i've been lucky a lot. i can't keep testing that luck.

it's the little things sometimes. it's a nice bike. not super expensive but not a Huffy (not that there's anything wrong with that. you bike what you got!). money can't buy you happiness but biking clears my head and invigorates me. i'm quite a novice but i'm getting stronger and it helps with my body image. i'm hoping to work up to maybe 10 miles a day sometime.

i guess i just wanted to share my joy today. find something that brings you true joy and invest in it as much as you can. you will most likely find yourself quite rewarded.

btw, my bike's name is Geoff (Top Gear joke). she's a beauty!

Thanks, D. You know, i finally talked to my sponsor today. When i went to the coffee shop, i ran into a fellow AAer. I kinda feel like the Universe is throwing all this hope at me. It's up to me now to grab it.

Glad that you're feeling good DG, and that all that hope is being thrown at you. The same thing happened to me after I myself came back. Thank you for sharing your joy, it's made me feel a bit brighter myself. Enjoy your bike!

That's awesome. I love my bike (and its a Huffy!). It's an old blue beach cruiser with a basket on the back and one on the front. My little dog rides in the front basket, and I love just riding around the neighborhood. Your hubby sounds like a good guy!
