This is hard. Really REALLY hard.
You can do it... Is there a time in the evening when you can leave if it's enough? I usually say I'm tired or have to get up early and I leave at a reasonable time, after spending time with the important people, and no one seems to notice or mind... Then I sigh a sigh of relief at home
AO.....stay cool, you can do this. You aren't alone and this is not easy. Now is the time you really have to put those skills you have been working on to the test.
You will be so proud of yourself for making the right decision tonight, just think about waking up tomorrow. You are in it right now but it will pass.
Can you leave or is there someone there you can talk to?

In all seriousness, might be time to not feel good and head home. Because you won't be lying when you say it.'
Just go home if the desire to drink doesn't go away. If you drink tonight, you will be disgusted with yourself tomorrow. You know you will.
Or, if you are ok with your urge management, then it might be a fun experiment to stick around and watch the party goers get buzzed and start talking nonsense...

Please don't drink. And I hope you can remove yourself, because like the others have said, it's just not worth it. You don't deserve to be suffering through a situation, even with family, that is going to jeopardize your health.
When I see people drinking wine, I can almost taste that sour vomit taste in the back of my throat that I would have every day from drinking wine. That, and the feel of the dull pounding of my head. I know YOU know what I'm talking about Alpha. You say it yourself...No more truth in wine.
P.S. Eat something yummy and sinful. An ear of sweet corn slathered in butter and salt...whatever gooey, chocolatey, sinful dessert they have on the menu. No reason you can't treat yourself with something delicious!

Are the wine drinkers making you envious of the stupid things they will start saying when they get drunk? Or are you envious of the hangover they will have tomorrow? Or maybe the DUI they might get on the way home....

I can't say it any better.
How strange and curious it is that I had complete strangers taking time out of their lives, to send me warrior energy and help me fight through this. Yet not a single friend or family member, (and I've alcoholically come out to all of them) asked me how I was, offered me a water, etc.
Good for you AO.....that is a huge accomplishment under your belt. I am sorry that your family and friends let you down.
Your friends here understand how hard it must have been because we have (and will be at some point) been in your shoes.
You faced adversity and asked for help and you did it!!!
