Day 7 thanks to everyone at SoberRecovery
Day 7 thanks to everyone at SoberRecovery
Day 7. I am completing my first week of sobriety in 34 years in large part due to the people on this forum. The last time I was sober for this long I was a college student with a pony tail and it was the 1970's.
I would not have had the resolve to start this journey without this website and the people on this forum. After two months of lurking on here I took the decision to stop drinking.
I would not have made it through the first week without this website. I pull my smart phone out of my pocket dozens of times each day to read a few posts. It reminds me I am not alone in my recovery and your posts give me strength. The pain and suffering expressed on this forum is sobering in itself. But I also find enormous quantities of life, love and humor here.
I will celebrate my 55th birthday tomorrow but it will be overshadowed by a even bigger celebration - Day 8.

Congratulations and Happy Birthday! Isn't sobriety amazing? It just takes doing what you have to do to get there.
This calls for my Sobriety Banana Dance!
This is a great place! I was on the edge of the cliff this week and I came here and posted. It's what I needed to get through and the support was overwhelming. The people on here make a HUGE difference!
