Day 3

I recently moved house and my dad came over last night as he hadn't seen the place yet, he brought me a gift: a bottle of whiskey. My Dad has no idea I'm an alcoholic, I see him 2-3 times a year at events where it's normal to drink and because I don't have the best family life I always leave before they see me at my worst.

After he left I spent about ten minutes just staring at it. My withdrawal was pretty bad by this point and someone had given me a bottle of stuff that would temporarily take all that away. I thought of my fiance and poured all of it away, I had tears in my eyes and my hands were shaking but I did it.

Today I'm using the money I'm saving to buy myself take out. **** dieting, I've earned this one.

That's a tough one! Early on in the process of getting sober you want to take any excuse to drink. Good for you that you kept your head!

Thanks guys! I feel a lot stronger now for it. Just another test. I'm not giving up.

Congrats

Good for you that is a tough one. More importantly, congrats on Day 3. I am on Day 5 myself and day 2 and 3 were the toughest for me (sweats, insomnia, and the mental games I was playing with myself about how it would be alright to have just one drink). Day 4 was a turning point and had my first good night of sleep in years. Who knows what this journey will hold but I just wanted to let you know have been there a couple days ago it seems to be getting better.
