Help. This first 40 hours without alcohol has been horrible! Sweating, shaking, chills, vomiting.

Yep, sounds about right Hang in there, it gets better.
You're on day 2 and the first 3-5 are the worst.

You should probably see your doctor and give him an honest account - how many years - how much per night. It's normal, but you want to be safe.

Hang in there.

You shouldn't suddenly stop drinking without medical advice if you have been a heavy drinker for a long time. Cut down but don't just stop until u see a doctor.

I agree, a trip to your doctor is a very good idea. Detox from alcohol can be life threatening and there are things to get you over the hump. It's a huge decision, and a very brave one. Please don't be afraid to ask for help, you are not alone, and are taking an important step. People in the medical community are very supportive of people who are taking strides to beat addiction!

Welcome. Yes completely normal. I do have to echo what the others have said. You many want to consult with your physician to safely detox. I am not sure how long you have been drinking or to what extent.

Yes doctors can help as long as you are honest about how much you drank and to what extent.

Welcome. I'm about where you are at, this is my second full day, though I've done this previously... Yes, doctors can help some with symptoms at the very least.

I had to go to the ER on my day 4. You can read about it here:

I recognize your symptoms and recommend you see a doctor. Better safe than sorry.

Yes. And this is why I went to the hospital. It got even worse for me, but the doctors pulled me through.

Hi Raider

All that sounds pretty normal, but if you feel particularly unwell, or concerned, a Dr is always your best bet

Raider, good for you! Sometimes just involving another person begins to demarcate the fact that we have taken action. It goes against every fiber of my being to ask for help, and every time I do, I think, "wow, I should do this more often!"
