Day 1

Hi

I had 8 years. I went to rehab the first time and it took pretty well. I relapsed about a year ago and have now quit like 4 different times, I just can't seem to make it more than a week or 2. I quit again today, my last drink was last night.

I've been having fits of rage and screaming at my wife while drunk, and I am really shirking my work responsibilities badly. I want to change now.

You found a great place with welcoming and supportive people who know what you are trying to do

Look around all the forums for really good ideas for getting and staying sober, inspirational stories

post, read, ask keep coming back

I'm new here and this site helped me tremendously
wish you well and hope to see you around

It's totally something you can achieve - speak to friends family your doctor - you need a support system - join a group - keep logging in here this is such a great forum - you will always be welcome and supported here through the ups and especially the downs. I wish you the best.

Thank you for the welcomes. My plan for now is the one that worked for me for a long time, step 1 don't drink, step 2 repeat step 1. I'm not much for meetings but will try to check in here.

I'm not one for meetings either, have you checked out Rational Recovery and their AVRT literature?. There is a free crash course on their site. It helped me tremendously.

I haven't looked at the AVRT stuff yet but I will. I need to get feeling a little better physically first so that I can focus. The rabbit hole I just came out of has me feeling really rough.

Welcome, foolsgold. I highly recommend reading SR every day for as many minutes/hours as you can squeeze into your day.

Welcome to SR.
There's lot of folks here that have climbed out of the rabbit hole also.
