Thank You to My A

Thank You for ignoring my tears. You taught me that I can handle it.
Thank You for yelling at me when I cry.... You taught me what not to love in a partner..
Thank you for teaching me that sometimes silence is better than screaming. I needed to know that anyway.
Thank you for not sleeping next to me. I may have expected to wake up encircled in arms that love me.
Thank you for making me love peace enough to appreciate having to sleep alone.
Thank you for not marrying me. I may have expected you to be a good man.
Thank you for making me who I am today. I couldn't have done it without you.

To My Ex....

Thanks for this thread! Very nicely done. It's a good reminder HP has a reason for bringing our A's into our lives. My A taught me many of things that brought me to be the person of which I am today.

Thank you Vicki! This is really excellent! Captures all the things that were wrong for me too. Things that I also denied in order to keep my fantasy going.

I've been working through such deep and intense pain in this process, but I feel like some things are beginning to actually feel better and become untangled lately. The blood and guts work is starting to transform some deep terrors from way back in my own FOO issues.

And you're right....when you're in the bottomless pit of darkness and pain, you can't see this, but with healing, what you're saying here becomes visible.

Thanks for putting it into words!

Fantastic post! So true. The pain was there for a reason and we wouldn't have learnt everything we have done without it. Thank you!

It reminds me of Christina Aguilera's song "Fighter." Which is currently on my jogging playlist, and pumps me up big time!

These days, as I withdraw more and more from my AH and we step ever closer to divorce, I am trying to focus on this one thing:

Thank you for our son. The world is a better place with him in it, and I will throw myself in front of a speeding bus for that kid. I am fully prepared to be both mother and father to him, as you descend farther down your black hole of beer.

Thanks to my A.

Where A stands for: Alcoholic. Addict. Anorexic. Abusive (verbal, at times), Atheist (yeah, how does THAT fit in a 12 step program?), Arrogant, and sometimes Ahole.

YOUR Behaviors have driven all the rest of us -- Me and the kids -- straight running and screaming into the open arms of God.

And HE is well pleased. God is not mocked.

Thank You, Thank You, Mrs. Hammer, you am.

Yes. I do like Green Eggs and Ham.

ALL things work together for GOOD; for those who love GO[O]D.
