I went...I went...I went!!!
Hi there,
Well I stuck to my plan and went to my first meeting on Friday at 12pm, then another at 7pm, another 8pm on Saturday and Made a phone call today as I couldn't make a meeting. Next is tomorrow at 8pm possibly also one at 1pm.
I talked in each meeting and tried my best to listen. I have a 24hr coin which I have not let go of...yes I am cheating slightly by using Antabuse but I don't see this as a long term solution and it is currently serving to get me to the meetings in these first few weeks.
I am of course getting way ahead of myself and getting hung up on the step in which I have to make amends, the thought of this scares me as there is a bunch of stuff I never got caught doing...but I kind of figure I will get this obsession under control if I keep going to meetings and putting some effort in...
Well in summary it is nice to write my first sober post in this forum!
Jason.

I'm glad you're working on your recovery, Jason.
I am not an AA person, but I have found that staying in the moment really helps. And trust that you will be ready for the recovery process as it develops.

I found both AA and Antabuse both helpful when I was in early sobriety. I later moved onto Celebrate Recovery, and stopped Antabuse after about six months, but everyone's different.
Being in a roomful of people who were non judgemental, had gone through what I had, and believed in me (my family was highly skeptical at first) was so comforting.
Great work! Don't worry about the steps, as long as you stay sober, it takes as long as it takes to go through them. Steps don't have a schedule like homework or exams. You'll get there when you're ready.

Congratulations Jason. For me I had to concentrate on step one, one day at a time. The steps are a way of living sober with comfortable feelings inside not a race to be first. A hint I got was if I’m having difficulty with a step go back to the previous one. Good luck

I'm proud of you........I'm proud of you....I'm proud of you!
Thats great.
You sound so happy.
The people I met in AA really made a lasting impression on me.
I met some people there who shared really painful experiences so that they might save me from suffering the same.
Maybe you could do 90 in 90? xx

Jason,
Congratulations, you are doing fine. Sugarbear took the words right out of my mouth. Pay attention to what others are saying in the meetings you attend and if you find you like the vibe and wisdom of one meeting more than the others, ask the chairperson after that meeting about how to get a temporary sponsor. The steps are not a correspondence program, and as simple as it sounds, the first step does in fact take some time to digest.
Keep up the good work!
