Just looking around

Hey everyone, found this site after wanting to find different ways of recovery when I can't attend AA meetings. From what I've briefly read it seems to be a great venue of total anonymity which I kind of prefer. Been sober for 45 days and feel amazing. I may choose to tell my story when I feel more comfortable with the site.

Anywho, glad to be here, and glad to be sober.

HA! GO BLUE!

Ive been doing it for 15 years, mostly fine dining. The chef lifestyle can get pretty crazy with all the drinking and drugs. My drinking has almost taken my passion away (which is minor considering what else it has taken from me). A chef without passion is like a bird without wings, but I'm trying to turn it around.

OH yes sure.. Our industry is filled with use alkies and addicts.. And also its accepted..

I also have only been in fine dining.. Went to culinary school out in San Francisco. Had a great career for a good stretch, work with some amazing people and places all over the states.. And even worked under a Iron Chef till I got drunk and woke up in another state.. But Symon and I are still friends..Amends are a wonderful thing. But alcohol really took everything from me.. I became a shaking, uncontrollably drunk.. And when I was 39 I was diagnosed with "wet brain".. I am now 41 healthy and happy.. Its a amazing ride..

SR and AA saved my life from myself.. I saw you say right now AA is not for you and thats cool..

Glad to have another Kitchen Loon in the bin here..

I like AA and attend every chance I get. Just needed another venue for when I'm not able to hit a evening meeting.

As I end another sober day I'll leave with this quote that I read to myself throughout the day.

The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place... and I donīt care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently, if you let it. You, me or nobody, is gonna hit as hard as life. But ain't about how hard you hit... It's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward... how much you can take, and keep moving forward. Thatīs how winning is done. Now, if you know what you worth, go out and get what you worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hits. And not pointing fingers saying: You ainīt what you wanna be because of him or her or anybody. Cowards do that and that ainīt you! Youīre better than that! - Rock Balboa

Kind of cheesy, but it helps me. And that's what its all about.
