Hi. The bottom line is just don't pick up the first drink. Simple yes but not always easy. I and many needed AA for the long term benefits. Others use this forum which offers much good help and encouragement. Some can just stop and never look back. BE WELL
Hey cheryl, I'm glad you're back and trying again. Advice for day 1...take it one hour at a time, one minute at a time if necessary. Go easy on yourself - get plenty of rest. If you feel you need medical attention, seek it immediately.

Welcome Cheryl, i would say keep hydrated, eat something and keep yourself distracted so you have less time to think about drinking. If you start to feel unwell seek medical attention. Good for you for deciding to make a start on getting well. I hope you feel better soon.

Just hang in there, keep busy, pray or meditate to calm your mind and heart. Drink lots of water and as others have said if you don't feel well make sure to seek medical attention. Positive energy goes out to you and I hope you find the peace that you are searching for.
Hey Cheryl! There's a lot of time for you to fill now that you're not drinking. I would suggest that you get together with like minded individuals such as in an AA meeting. AA is a great place to spend sober time. Reading about recovery during down time is good too. Try to give yourself a schedule throughout the day so you don't find yourself facing large chunks of time you would typically spend drinking.
