Welcome. Sorry to hear that. There is always someone here that gets it. You can read and post anywhere but it sounds like you may want to check out the Friends and Family of forums. Certainly plenty of people in that there that can relate.
Wishing you a calm and peaceful evening.

I guess I need both forums because I am a recovering alcoholic myself. Three days shy of 14 months.

ginger, welcome to SR! I post/read mostly in the Family and Friends section, so I hope to see you there. We have a number of "double winners" there, people like yourself who are both recovering alcoholics themselves and family/friends of alcoholics, too. It's great to be able to get the perspective of someone who has been on both sides of the fence, so to speak.

My hub is an alcoholic in very early recovery (just over a month now); he does AA and I do Alanon plus a Buddhist 12-step group. It is amazing to me, in talking to him, how different the emphasis can be between AA and Alanon, for all that they use the same 12 steps and so on. I find it extremely useful to hear that viewpoint from the "other side", and you might, too.

I think you'll find this forum pretty easy to use, but if you have any trouble, please don't hesitate to ask, OK? It would be a shame for us to lose out on your input b/c it's not clear how to use some function of the forums.

Again, welcome, and looking forward to hearing more from you.
