Day 4, surrounded by alcohol

Cat sitting a friends place for the whole day until late evening.

I'm literally surrounded by alcohol.for some reason I had to look round where all the alcohol was and how much there was.

I need the strength not to cave.

It's early hours of the morning so...so far I'm ok. No idea how the day will pan out...

Feeling slightly on edge

Many have tried to manage on their own .. so your finding out what doesn't work which is normal - when you are ready to take the next step - have the courage to reach out and get help by going to a meet others in recovery and not by isolating on the end of a computer.

Hi Flower21. What are your options in terms of a plan for the day? Do you have to be in the house the whole time, or could you go for a walk or run an errand and pop back in throughout the day?

This is worrisome. What happened specifically that made you throw in the drunkard's towel? What does sobriety mean for you?
Are you not tired of what the sh*t does to you..to your mind, your self esteem, your spirit?

You are surrounded by POISON..you can light it on fire or dissolve paint with that poison. Imagine what it does to you internally.

Hi Flower

Try and get the right perspective maybe?
There's a million things you could do tonight - 999, 999 of them need not involve alcohol

it's one night - focus - you can do this

Stay strong, you have not had a drink yet so the choice is still yours. You can do this!

I agree with LuLu13. You can totally get through today without using that crap. Think about what it's done in the past, with anger rather than longing, when you catch another glimpse of those poison vials.

You're right, there are so many different things I can do today and this evening.

Looking around at what was here made me feel.. Hm, my mind at rest. I knew the rest of the day I'd just be wondering what was in the house.

Sobriety means a lot to me. Attending a meeting has been in my thoughts I will take a look at local meeting today.

Thank you for the replies

Keep us posted, Flower21. Jump on here as much as you need to, stay strong. You can make it through this. I am sometimes a nasty person (not really) but giggled at the thought of telling you to dump it all out. Can you imagine the homeowner's surprise when he/she got home?

Oh, and I hope you are getting paid well for all that temptation or that the place at least has a hot tub!

Yup, needing more help than I thought.

I emailed AA and had a lovely reply- on contact numbrs, meetings I could attend.

Friends house has been tidied top to bottom. Plus side.

Drank, on my 3rd beer and not sure when it's going to stop. Downside.

Crawling into my cave. Wake me up when it's all over

Dust yourself down and start again. It's probably best to stay home for the first few days so you have control of your surroundings. Doing a favour for yourself is the best thing you can do for you now.

If you need to "cat-sit" again at this alcohol filled abode then who says you need to STAY there all day? Don't stay at all. Just pet them kitties and hit the streets, go to a park, library, movie marathon etc.

Hate to burst your bubble but your friend's house isn't the only place "filled with alcohol". Just walk down the street in any town anywhere in the western world - we have it anywhere we want. Trick is not picking up. And suffering well...

So right, I shouldn't have to sit in all day, though I had to bring along my two young children. I just can't believe again I started drinking with them around. Thankfully their father has picked them up for bedtime. Now I'm waiting here and more than likely crash at my friends place!

I thought I would've stopped at the very first one.
