Doing Things Sober
I am 8 days sober. Woot!
I did two things this weekend. One I have never done sober. The other, sadly, I can't remember the last time I did sober.
The first was a concert. I have never been sober at a big concert. And I personally don't recommend it in early recovery, but I went...
I ended up having a great time! The place we went is outside and has something we call the hill, that's the cheap seats...no seats. I have been there many times, but I have been so wasted I didn't notice some things. It is extremely uncomfortable stading on a stupid hill, people spill their beer everywhere, including on people! People have no concept of personal space. Lol So I learned I could have fun sober, I also learned I will never watch a concert on the hill! And I think I will wait a good while before I go to another big concert.
The next day I woke early with no hangover. Love it! I was able to get everything ready for my son's birthday. Usually I am worried about everything, full of anxiety, and hurrying to get stuff done so I can start drinking. This was a no alcohol party. Yes, I have never had a childs party without alcohol. This time, I took it slow and was completely present for my son. It was the best feeling. Again, I had a great time sober.
I am a little wiped out, but I am so gratful that I am still sober!
All these things were actually more fun sober. I can remember them, I'm not sick, I have no regrets. A perfect weekend.

congratulations on being sober over a week! That's big time right there, I have only been sober like 3 days, I think the most I've gone is maybe 4 or 5 months, but I'm working on it! Keep up the good work!
