I'm Done With This
I'm Done With This
I'm stopping today, and could use some support. My foster family went on vacation, and I'm not comfortable sharing this with my birth family.
I would go to detox, but I don't have health insurance.

Congrats on saying enough is enough.
There's lots of folks here that made the same choice you just did.
We are ALL in this together.Keep reading here and interacting. It will help you,as being alone can make it tough.
Glad you found this site.

Good for you. I too have no health insurance and have detoxed at home several times...no fun....can't eat....can't sleep, shaking, hot and sweating regardless of how cool you keep it....dizzy..heart feels out of wack.... the list goes on and on...BUT you will get through it and feel amazing in a few short days!! Good luck friend!
Well, I didn't last. Yesterday night, however, I dumped the remaining vodka I had left and called my dad, asking if I could detox at his place. I'm here now, feeling terrible but hopeful.
Here's to a new start and a life free of this poison!

I am going it alone too and find this site a great source of encouragement...everyone is really supportive and will understand exactly what you're going through. It's a lonely addiction that makes us feel ashamed and isolated, but here you can be honest and you will not be judged. Some here are beginning their journey, others (like me) are trying again and some further down the line with years of sobriety under their belts...but all we all the battle of addiction in common.
We are here for you. Detox is rough! I hope you are safe and not alone. Remember lots of water and get some food in there if you can. Vitamins. Try to relax. Watch a good uplifting movie or read a book. Take walks. Talk to people. We have all been there. Best of luck!
Yes treat the symptoms and try n call your local department of family services, they may have a way in for a free detox,as was said,it can be dangerous so take the time and make some calls and see what you can find out.I've been there,it sucks but you never have to go through this again if you choose not too...best of luck to you...
Not at the moment and I've done a search for clinics in my area and there don't appear to be any. Thankfully I have family I'm staying with so they can monitor me and if something does go wrong, they can react. I know it's not the best option, but it's the best it appears it's going to be.
Start of Day two with a night of not sleeping, just chatting with people on SR all night to help with the symptoms. Don't know how I'd have gotten through last night without them.
They have gotten a bit better, the shaking has all but stopped and the headache is almost gone. Feeling far more articulate, as well! Mostly just rough emotional/mental stuff. which I'm having a bit of a hard time with.
Going to find an AA meeting today to get to work on this beast, as well
Thanks for your support guys <3

Try to hang on even one minute at a time. Little things helped in the beginning. I drank a lot of sweets and ate candy the first couple weeks, it replace the sugar in the booze that my body desired. Having thoughts of not drinking was soothing as long as I kept it up helped a lot. AA meetings with people contact was a tremendous help even hearing what I didn’t want to hear. I/we especially had to stay away from people, places and things that trigger us to drink. This I absorbed by going to a lot of meetings. Keep coming.
