I need help to stop/control my drinking. I am hoping someone can help me.
I pray to stop, but I am not strong.....I know what to do and not to do, but I fail.

Why is that????? Why can't I stop/

Welcome, it is great you have the desire to stop. I am going to let someone with more sobriety answer your questions as I am only on day 13 myself but posting here is a great start. You will find lots of love and support among these people.

gnizama - Welcome to SR!! Most of us who can't stop drinking and/or using are alcoholics and/or addicts (A's).

I was a nurse, KNEW the dangers of addiction but became an A anyway. I couldn't stop just because I knew I needed to.

Support is really important. SR is GREAT about that!! When I first came here, I read a ton of stories, no matter what anyone abused, and that helped a lot.

I don't know how much or how long you've been drinking, but I do recommend you see a dr. Alcohol withdrawal can be very dangerous, even fatal.

I can go days without drinking, but when I do (and I do) I get drunk. I have been to a therapist and that helped a lot. (can't afford it forever!) I go to church and feel guilty because I am "the one that" is not what God or my Church is looking for. They want people who are strong and who SPREAD the Word. I listen to DAB (Daily Audio Bible) and listen to Christian music, and this helps me so so so much! I am loving and good, and try my best to help others, guide them etc. But.... the end of the week, I am exhausted and want to just drink. I open a bottle of wine and drink the whole bottle!
