Dream a little nightmare scenario for me.......

Last night I had the most horrible nightmare about getting wasted. I missed work, something I regularly used to do and went out at 6am to get my fix. Also something I used to do. My family disowned me and I wandered the streets. When I woke up I was so so disoriented I felt so much guilt and it took a few seconds to realise I was dreaming.

I can't tell you the relief I felt when I realised I was a month and a half sober and I went to bed sober and still had work the next day.

I've heard there dreams are quite regular in recovery?

Drinking dreams are very common. Just move on. Congrats on the month and a half.

I just had my first Drinking dream the other day. I think these, although upsetting, keep us in check and keep the memories of how ****** our lives were as vivid as possible so for that I'm grateful

They are very common - and very real.

I never attached too much meaning to them and I've gotten along just fine.
They will fade, with a little time

D

It's unsurprising that we do something so often, and then stop suddenly, we miss it, and our subconscious brain remembers what it was like.

My last using dreams were more like nightmares.
I think it was quite cathartic to awaken victorious over alcohol, knowing it was all just a dream, and I hadn't relapsed.

hi, they do seem very real and frightening.
I'm still having them after 4 months sober; I have tried to work out if they're triggered by anything going on in my life but so far I can't relate them to anything.
I don't let them bother me too much; I use them as a reminder of the hell my life was 6 or so months ago

Tomorrow will be 10 months sober for me and I still occasionally have those dreams. I think part of it is that I take melatonin supplements. One side effect is said to be strange dreams/nightmares. Since I've always had strange dreams it's not a big deal but it does seem to amplify them a bit.

On day 10 I had my first drinking dream, it was so real! I woke up very upset with myself for drinking, took me a minute to realize it was just a dream.

When old timers say, "play it forward" that dream can be your reference point of where drinking can lead you. Glad to here you are doing well! Keep up the great work congrats on your success!

Good morning SR... I never had a drinking nightmare have I do have a "smoking" bad dreams! It was so vivid and extremely upsetting. Then I wake up, exhausted and sweaty, convinced that I had " really" smoked a cigarette. Just my nightmare. Just as frightening!
