One Week Sober!!

One week ago today, I quit drinking and my life has changed forever!

So far, so good! I have my days and nights mixed up (insomnia--can't get to sleep until 5 a.m. and sleep until 11 a.m.) and have some sugar cravings, but all in all, doing good!

However, I am still waiting for that burst of energy everyone talks about getting when they quit drinking. I have been just the opposite--tired and lazy! I'll take that over a hangover any day! Also, no depression! Yeah!!!

I know one week doesn't sound like a lot. But NEVER in my wildest dreams did I think I could go this long without a drink after drinking daily for 13 years....so this is HUGE for me!

Congratulations Eleni! Keep up the great work. I don't remember moving much during my first week sober. My body was adjusting and my sleep was minimal. The good news is it gets better!

The energy ebbs and flows as the body and mind need time to heal. Give yourself time and keep your expectations realistic...afterall you were actively drinking for 13 years! Congrats on your week!!

Eleni, congrats on getting your first week under your belt. Your body and time clock will adjust themselves in time, and once you begin drinking plenty of fluids and eating healthy, you energy levels will go through the roof!

Big congrats on your week sober. All of us only have today. The cliches become cliches because they're a truth. So take it easy and let things happen as they come, great things are headed your way, my first year of sobriety was glorious and the rest have been darn nice too.

Wow way to go! It's taken me months to just get 24 hours, and today is Day 2 and this post is a happy reminder of how good 1 week, 1 months feels, but still. Early sobriety can AT TIMES be almost unbearable (cravings, depression, getting to content or stagnent in your program of recovery) so you need to glad but also on guard. Do you have a sponsor? Or plan on coming to Sober Recovery chat? We all go through extremely emotional tough days in early sobriety. But also so much joy and freedom when you overcome tough minutes, hours, days, weeks, if you can reach out for help.
