First time sober, first time sharing
First time sober, first time sharing
Hi. I hit a wall earlier this month when I went out to an event on a schoolnight, and ended up drunk, and unable to perform the next day. For the one millionth time. I had been teetering on the edge of teetotalling for many years, but rarely took a substantial enough break from drinking to realize the benefits. I used alcohol to cope with anything from crushing family issues to not knowing what to do with an hour of free time. Alcohol has been the most important and consistent thing in my life. I wanted to feel sobriety and eventually learn to cultivate all of the benefits that can come along with sober living, and so far I have had a pretty easy time of letting go. That is shocking to me considering I've been a heavy drinker for twenty years, beginning in early adolescence. However, sometimes I have hard days and I find myself reading this site almost every day, so I decided to join. So I guess I'm just saying hi, and thanks (whoever you are) for already helping me through some tough times.
