slipped up, but not giving up

I slipped up last night and drank some beer after a week of sobriety. I feel the way I always do after I drink...tired, cranky, achy, headache pounding. I'm disappointed in myself but I am jumping right back on the wagon. I'm glad I have everyone on SR to help me through this difficult time. I Can Do This!

Hang in there folks. It's worth it. I was on and off for so long. Keep trying and eventually it will stick. Just don't stop trying. Start with today.

Hi grocerease. We've all done it. Sometimes we need further proof that it's just not worth it. Glad you're back to talk it out.

Glad you are back Grocer and Bob. See if you can learn from your relapse and form a plan to prevent the next one. As Vilsch1 says, you have to want sobriety more than the drink if you want to make this work. You can choose to feel this way or not, it's really that simple!

Agreed! You have to be ready, willing and want to quit! Two months ago, I wasn't even close. Then a month ago, I started thinking about it and a over a week ago, I finally realized I wanted to be sober more than I wanted to drink. You just reach a point where you get sick and tired of being sick and tired. I pray to God every day and thank Him that he got me through another day of sobriety and also pray that He gives me the strength to not relapse. I don't think I could live with myself if I start drinking again. Plus I don't want to have to start all over again. It's too hard!

Welcome back Grocerease
look at what happened, take the lessons you can from it then move on

think about what more you can add to whatever you were doing before to safeguard your recovery?
