For those just starting out...
For those just starting out...
I just hit triple digits...100 days sober (in a row lol).
A little over 3 months ago I felt life was hopeless. I was drinking from the time I woke up (came to) till the time I went to bed (passed out). I wasn't working. I was isolating in my room. I even kept a cooler full of beer in my room so I wouldn't have to talk to anyone for most of the day. If I ate one meal a day that was a good day. I had several physical side effects from living like that but I won't go into the gory details.
You guys can do this! Find some type of support system, some type of recovery program, it is SO important, especially early. I have only relapsed twice in 23 years since I first got sober in 1990. BUT...one relapse was for a year and the other one (the last one) was for 8 years. I almost didn't make it back. Alcoholism can kill you and eventually it will, it's just a matter of whether it does it to you quickly or slowly. If you do relapse don't get discouraged but just remember that there is no guarantee that you will make it back. This is serious stuff.
OK, off of my soapbox now and off to a noon meeting soon.

I like this. You have done some great work. Yes, we may never make it back into sobriety. All bets are off when we start drinking. Congrats on 100 days!!! Keep on Keeping on!

Thank you Grunge..and heartfelt congrats on your 100 days of sobriety! 3rd time's the charm right? I always appreciate your authentic, straight-ahead, no nonsense wisdom. In sobriety, the strength you have in your skin simply commands attention....your words seem to show that.
