Hey...
Hey...
Hey, folks...
New here. I'm fifty-two years old and I am pretty disheartened at the way I'm abusing my body with alcohol. I am trying to buck myself up and attend an AA meeting. I purchased an old copy of the Big Book at a used book store and I'm working on that. Going to check this place out for a while.
Thanks,
Nettles

Welcome! This is a good place, keep coming back. Please give AA an open minded approach, take what you need and leave the rest, try not to be too judgmental. And do not judge/decide with one or two tries, please give it 6,8,10 meetings to get the true experience. Our recovery is not "cookie-cutter ' although nobody can do it alone, each of us needs to do what works best, respecting individuality. Recovery works, and it IS the only option we have.
Welcome Nettles. I was in the same situation as you - getting fed up with the damage to my body and those around me. SR has been my main support and it's a wonderful community. The big key to me was making the committment to myself to get better. Everything falls in place slowly once you make that decision. Best of luck to you and hope you find a plan than works, read lots and ask lots of questions!

Hi nettles, welcome! Check out the 24 Hour club Sign Up Sheet. Also here is a online Big Book Audio version. Sometime it is difficult to read in the first few days of sobriety. Any way I can help? Let me know , send me a pm God Bless!
