The first month
The first month
Well here we are. Exactly one month ago I was on the end of a 4 day bender. No food just lots of whisky. I was at the end of my tether and finally realised that I just can't drink alcohol without it taking a hold on me and turning into someone I didn't like. After a horrific withdrawal of about 4 days 2 of which I was working as I got signed off last year for "alcohol abuse" and didn't want it on my records twice. Anyway I've been on Thiamine and Vit B and feel great.
I have had no cravings whatsoever so far, indeed no inclination to drink. Despite turning 40 and going into pubs to watch Cricket with friends. I was a classical binge drinker and nearly lost everything. I know a month isn't much but so far I'm taking it one day at a time and hopefully will beat this disease. Thanks for listening. This site is a Godsend

A very warm congrats on your month and a big hug! It's not easy but you're doing it and it will keep getting a bit less daunting each day. I still have good days and bad days (coming up on 9 months) but I am so glad I haven't given up. So glad you're here. I agree with you, SR is the best!!!
