and felt absolutely high afterward...just off of helping someone. Normally I would have still been asleep at the time it happened. I've found that I get a great feeling from helping others (with no painful repercussions). It's not all about me anymore. I don't want praise. I just want people to know that there is an insurmountable joy in helping others, even strangers, that far surpasses what lies in the bottom of a bottle. Thanks for reading.
Thank you for posting! It's very possible you "made the day" of the person with the typewriter as well. That's Karma! I can *feel* that in your post.

We can still get high without alcohol and drugs. I get the feeling that drugs and alcohol made it impossible for me to do it naturally.

Very nice .. I like to hear stories of voluntary servitude .. humility at its finest.
I had the experience last week of helping someone, too, and it was indeed a high, a feeling like no other. I just felt absolutely full. With good stuff, good feelings.
It was truly a gift.
It does feel good. Not long ago I helped a neighbor and before not only would I have been to drunk at the time of day to help but I would have not wanted to. I would have looked at it as an intrusion to my drinking time. My drinking time was so precious to me. I see how selfish and insane that is now.
Maybe that person was starting a daily log about a journey they are starting and the first sentence they write is about the person that helped them carry the typewriter they are using.
