Typically the most energy is spent before the first meeting.... worrying about going.

that's great

AA meetings have helped me to understand that I'm alcoholic

even though I have over 5 years sober now

I usually still attend 2 to 4 meetings a week

helps to remind me of how it was

plus - maybe I can be of help to a newcomer ?

Thanks everyone I feel more positive after leaving than I have in a very long time. It's an awesome feeling. It feels good to take one day at a time. A great mix of people too and all very welcoming

Emotionally drained is sometimes good, it means you've gotten some of those negative emotions out of your head! Glad to read that you liked your first meeting.
