Dry for July
Dry for July
Hello Peoples:
I joined the class of July. I've been drinking for most of my adult life but lately I found I was going overboard and thought - Lucille - maybe you should slow down a bit. So, I searched and googled around and found this community and thought - what the hey, why not have a sober July and just see where it leads me. So, I've committed to a sober July (started July 1). So far, so good. I do have a neighbourhood bbq to attend on Saturday and it is tempting to chill out with some wine - but I've decided that I will stick to soda with lime.
I don't have any plans beyond July and not sure if I will quit for good - I hope I am not breaking any forum rules by saying that.
I have been reading many posts and am cheering on everyone on their journeys.

Welcome to SR.
Not at all. We have a lot of newcomers who come here questioning the extent of their drinking problems, not sure if they are alcoholics. And they are often told, try some sober time, see how it goes.
Maybe after a month you'll find you like not drinking.
And if you fail to make a month...there is something to be learned there, as well. Good luck.
