You kept me sober this weekend.

I've been going through a rough patch lately.

Really really rough.

Nearly used/drank the other night. Was up late, alone, feeling very very alone. Holiday week and weekend. I guess most of my friends etc were busy. Felt myself spinning and reeling and invisible.

I didn't know what to do, how to talk myself into sense again, prayed...

and it came to me that if I give up sobriety...well shame on me. Here are all of you on SR working hard to get sober, stay sober and clean. And how blessed I am to have found it...it would be a sorry slap in the face to throw away something others are dying for. So, out of respect to all of you here, and all other addicts and alkys...I didn't do it.

So thank you. Just you all being here kept me from going all kinds of stupid.

We users do tend to feel sorry for ourselves, don't we? You did a great job! Keep up the good work.

Good job on working through that moment! It can be a little shaky to be alone on a holiday.

The chatroom often has people in it later in the evening, especially on weekends and holidays. It's nice because if I'm feeling alone I can go shoot the breeze with the chatroom crowd, usually pretty lighthearted

Sometimes I think the moments we ALMOST drink or use are the most valuable.

You can file this memory away for future use as evidence that you DO have the resolve and the strength to stay sober even when you're tempted. You have what it takes!

Well done you!

I am reminded of the adage "we will love you until you love yourself". I think that's what this place is all about. Obviously we need sobriety for ourselves but sometimes the waters get so rough we need others to keep us from drowning. Sometimes our grip on the life preserver is rather weak....you held on nevertheless. Nice work Threshhold. Great job holding on.

I think holidays are always hard because we have expectations. I'm glad you got through this and I agree with you that SR is amazing.

I just keep telling myself "no matter how I feel, I can still do the right thing."
