I want to add I'm grateful for gratitude, too, if that makes sense. The ability to feel grateful even though at times I do not feel my gratitude but get lost in my pain, self-pity, etc. It's still awesome to be able to feel gratitude. And I think it's a really integral part of recovery.

Great thread!

Yes, being grateful for gratitude is really understanding the whole idea behind this. I've spent more than enough time being ungrateful, as much as I hate to admit this type of thinking. Gratitude is most definitely an instrumental part of recovery. Thank you! I like the way you think.

For sitting on the front porch with my dogs drinking good coffee on a beautiful summer morning reasonably happy not hungover. Soon to be off to my favorite AA meeting and seeing some real friends and possibly making some new ones. Life is pretty darn good

I am grateful for my job, the chance to share my story and give back to other's.........instead of going through life as just as taker, never giving anything. I am thankful for my new life, and being given a 2nd chance to live a better way. I feel a sense of freedom I never knew I had until I lost in to my addiction. I am also thankful for my relationship with god, and my connection I now feel to nature, mankind, and the universe. I could go on, but I wont, lol. I am very thankful for a ton of things. Nice post idea!

I am grateful for my daughter's laughter right now.

What a beautiful sound to hear as I wake up.

Random, but:

I am grateful for a sharp knife when I feel like cooking.
Flowers that don't need you to do a thing to or for them to be beautiful and take your breath away.
A soft bed to sleep in.
Sleep! I spent so many years passing out that sleep is something I am very grateful for!
My best friend who I spend every weekend with in Philly who said, when I quit drinking, "I am with you on this 100%" and hasn't had a drink around me since---even though she never had a problem.
My dogs and cats (and all animals, really, totally gifts from God/the Universe)
Running water (I spend a lot of time in places without so I am a big fan )
Second chances.
Not having had a hangover in nearly five months!
SR
All of you.
Mizzuno---always grateful for you and for starting this much-needed thread this morning.

And yes, grateful for being able to feel gratitude again. Awesome post, Lyoness.

Oh yes, and as Nighthawk so beautifully put it: grateful for a chance to give back for once instead of always taking.
That's a second chance. Might not "right" all the wrongs I have done but it is sure better than doing nothing more than taking up space on our lovely planet

I am grateful for my last drink.
Grateful that i am walking into a lighted direction. Some of you hold my light at times, when it gets to heavy. You all have held my hand with compassion and understanding, and for this I am grateful.
I am grateful for being grateful.
Grateful that i am going to the lake today, and spending time on a friends house boat.
I am ever so grateful for Lily and Max, my two sibling cats. Their love is unconditional.
