Happy 4th SR Family!!
Hope everyone had or is having a safe and fun 4th of July. I did 2 meetings today, hung by the pool and went shopping with a friend. So wonderful to NOT feel like I am missing out on drinking. After all, it's just another day and yet another sober!
Happy 4th to you too!
It's a wonderful feeling not having to worry about any of the aspects that accompany heavy drinking. I can just bring my family to the fireworks show and we can all enjoy ourselves.

Every 4th I look up where the fireworks are going to be, and plan to go. Pretty much every year lately we would be in the bar, and go outside to the deck, see a couple of random fireworks and go back in to keep drinking. I always felt kind of sad because I have always loved fireworks displays.
This year I took my mom and went to the beach and saw some great fireworks! It felt like a big milestone, choosing the fireworks over drinking-that's new! Mom hated the noise so didn't enjoy it. Next year, I hope to have some sober friends to see them with.
Quitting drinking is really making me miss family get togethers and large group parties, (cook outs and the like, not drinkfests) etc. Since drinking probably is why I don't have a large famiy myself it's a little bittersweet.
