An old face emerges :)
Hello all
I would just like to say I have just passed one year sober for the first time in my life I hope the same people are around from when my wife and I were here last time, after all it has been a long time.
I would just like to say thank you for the early support you gave me, especially after my heart attack. It was this forum that helped me get on the wagon in the first place, which was a minor miracle looking at the past 25 years of my life.
Anyway, my son has just graduated from university and I am celebrating with him now...with some good old cherry pepsi max of course
Anyway, thank you all who helped me achieve this amazing milestone.

OldRocker - I'm very glad to hear the good news - & forgive me if I'm a bit surprised, too. It looked a bit shaky there for awhile - but look at you - a year sober and enjoying a real life - no more phoning it in.

The thing that changed for me was realising that every single really bad event that has happened to me in my life has been a direct result of being drunk. My heart attack was due to alcoholic cardiomyopathy that I thankfully recovered from (I still have an implanted defibrillator). I lost work, friends, my brother didnt talk to me for 10 years. When I couldnt attend my own father-in-law's funeral because I was passed out in bed in my own vomit kind of sealed it for me.
However, I am now happy and healthy and enjoying a natural life. I highly recommend it
