Giving it another try
Well im fixing to wind up day four of laying the bottle down.I have been pretty hard at it for about eight years,I have had some times of sobriety during that time but i never really wanted to quit until now.I have been to detox facilites and to rehab before and even though i know its not smart i white knuckled it this time. This will hopefully remind me of what i have went through the next time i want to drink.
The thing to set your goal too is open a communication with a higher power. I used to avoid it but until I opened my mind to the fact that a higher power was needed I never got sober.
Every step in AA is designed to reduce your ego. Until u get to a point u are willing to communicate with a higher power or at least trust .
1 you admit your powerless
2 you need to rely on something other then u
3 gods got it
As u read all the steps each one helps u lower your pride.
Eventually u get to step 11
In which u are trying to communicate with God
Then in the 12 step they say having had a spiritual awakening
Past tense
I hope it helps
So the sooner u ask for a god of your understanding help the sooner it will work
Hope this helps
I've been rt where u are
This month 24 years
Hang in never give up ok

Congratulations on your decision.
The fourth day was always the hardest for me, looked better, felt better and hey! I can drink again.
What works for me is, thinking of that first drink and where it'll lead me. I'm always one drink away from a drunk, so be awares.
Best to you.

Well I made another day dry as a bone, took a walk and just thought about things this morning.I started going back to aa today also,I just recently moved here and was kinda nervous about going to a new group because I liked the one where i used to live alot and I really liked my sponsor. After making the meeting I found out that this is a great group too! I am more determined than ever to quit now,My doctor informed me I have alcoholic hepatits and he told me if you want to see your children grown you have to give it up because if you keep drinking you will be lucky to see a couple more years.
