It's helped immensely. It didn't happen overnight, a year in fact, but that's only because I kept taking myself away to drink... *sigh* BUT I'm finally getting there, this is my 16th day sober which is more than I've had in long time. I'm off to a SMART recovery meeting tomorrow for some face to face support.

Everybody here is amazing, which you'll soon find out and some posters here have years of sobriety behind them with only the help of SR.

Yep, it's a cool place to be. Are you going to be ok? Don't need to see a doc or anything for withdrawals? If so plenty of rest, water and small bites to eat, but I suspect you've learned that over the years

Hi Hartman,

The first days are the worst...I was sweating like I ran a marathon and then some. Slowly, but very surely it will get better. When we stop pouring poison down our throats, amazingly miracles happen.

I was just going to post about how there's no coincidence that I've woken up the past four mornings in awe of what refreshing sleep I had. Haven't had a good night's sleep in years...hmmmm, wonder why.

This site is a godsend filled with amazing people all who understand what you're going through. It's an imperative part of my recovery.

Welcome and stick around!
