Check In and Still Very Grateful

I always think back to the days my life depended on this forum and the people here teaching me AVRT. So I want stop back in and say I haven't drank for over a year and a half and that is possible because of the people here who helped me in November 2011. My mental and emotional growth have developed by leaps and bounds since then. I never understood "arrested development" until I really tried to tackle life without alcohol for an extended period of time. I told myself a lot of lies about my worth and I think a lot of people do that when dependent upon alcohol...if you're struggling, just know that you and your life are worth so very much more than you think. Start strong and stay strong...AVRT absolutely works and you can be free from alcohol if you so desire.

Thank you again for this wonderful site!

Glad to hear of the successes from AVRT/RR.. I've been on here since 2009.. And never came to this particular section because it said Secular.. I'm not a secular person.. However, the no nonsense approach is very attractive to me. My BP is completed and I have so much more understanding..

I think AVRT fits me well because I KNOW drinking is WRONG, its immoral (for me). So when it's pitched in the area of morality instead of disease, it all seemed to just click..

I won't be counting days, maybe years, or maybe never.

Thanks for this forum and thanks for your story!

Glad you have both found success. This is my first day here and was wondering if I may ask what AVRT and RR is?

Thanks!

Hi Looking.

You can google Rational Recovery AVRT and it will bring you to the website. They also have a crash course at the site which takes only a few minutes to "do" and is very helpful. The book I have is Rational Recovery The New Cure.

There are several threads in this section of SR that also talk about it. I'll bump them up so they are more easily seen.
