Quick question
I had that when I was drinking and I have had it since and the best I can figure out it is a stress response so in a way it makes sense that you have this getting sober. Talk to your pharmacist about antihistamines. I found that only a certain type worked to get rid of mine. Now when it comes up I just take some loratadine and it goes away. The first time was horrid though because I was just persevering with the same antihistamine and the hives spread all over my legs and arms. It was very dramatic. I hope you get it sorted. Oh, and just in case you're thinking it... alcohol won't make it go away x
Thanks hypochondriac, I will look into that. I'm feeling good today (day 3) and I know that i would rather have a few hives than the deep guilt, depression, shame and all the other **** that comes with drinking alcohol. For the first time in my life - I think I can do this!
I did not have a rash or bumps but I felt itchy. I think that can be sign of sugar withdrawal or detox. Alcohol has a lot of sugar in it.
Try eating some hard candy, or my new favorite, chocolate.
I never went overboard for sweets. I could take it or leave it but once I stopped drinking I had a major craving for it. Mostly chocolate or ice cream.

Hi Bensmammy, I have to say so far so good. I've actually hit a few rock bottoms in my time. I have done some unspeakable, terrible things when drunk. I've been a relatively well behaved drunk for the past 3 years but trying to come to terms with stuff whilst still drinking doesnt work. This time I just felt something click when reading these forums. I'm tired of feeling guilt and shame, tired of daily hangovers, done with it. It's hard for me early evening onwards but so, so worth it. It's only day 3 and I'm feeling big changes already!
I'm determined to never be a drunken mess ever again. Well done to you too, how are you doing?
