This is my first time here on this forum. I joined here because i want to learn more about the recovery after alcohol and drug addiction. I don't want to go to rehab. My friends told me it was very hard and the facility they went to were very strict. I want to do this on my own. I am strong and i have the will to win over this addiction.

I actually think it takes acceptance not willpower - I needed to accept I could not drink anymore.

You'll find a lot of support here, and ideas on others things you can do besides rehab, if that's not your thing

Welcome to SR myjade. You will get lots of support and help here. Don't be afraid to ask for help if you need it. I too wanted to do this on my own, but couldn't. I needed some help along the way.

When I got sober it was because I wanted to be sober more than anything. I had to accept that I could never drink again. When I did that I could finally find my sober life.

You can and I'm sure you will if you want it enough myjade. Learn as much as you can from the experienced and supportive people here and begin your journey when you're ready.
