first day sober

I'm hoping to take my first step towards sobriety...nervous as hell and don't want to tell anyone. I am really nervous about failing in this endeavor -I've always been a "go-to" guy for friends to drink with, but in recent years as I dealt with depression and an ailling marriage I found myself drinking more and in increasingly isolated environments. I'm now a five or six beers a night guy who is slowly feeling his control over the problem slipping away.

I'm excited to address this issue and hope that I can pull it together.

Welcome to SR, take some time and read and post as much or as little as you like, also check out the newcomers forums, you will find lots of great info and tons of support.

I was in a like situation as you. I have just hit 100 days sober and now things are much clearer and I fell much better as time goes by.

Good Luck and Stay Strong

Ken

Welcome to SR

Try to stay confident and don't worry about how your sobriety will effect other people. I don't know why but we all seem to do that in the beginning until we realise it doesn't matter. Just make sure you look after yourself. There is lots of support available here

It's so good to have you join us functional! The support & caring here are wonderful.

We all understand what you're going through. It helps to be among people who have been there. I'm glad you're admitting you're losing control - I wish I had, before I let my life turn into a nightmare. This won't happen to you.
