First week sober
First week sober
I’m new to this forum and I would like to stay sober. I have lasted one week which I feel is a good start. Fridays are by far the hardest day for me. Part of me wants to go out, but I know doing this is for the best. My temptation is strongest on Friday when I finish work and I walk by all the bars and restaurants and everybody seems like they are having fun. It is hard to just keep walking.
Hi ANewDay - you'll find a lot of support here
Everybody might be having fun - but drinking became anything but fun for me - I suspect it's that way for you too?
There's other healthier ways to have fun, even if it means making some lifestyle changes

Thank you for the encouragement – I feel alcohol is interfering with the life I want to live, and I am going to give being sober my best shot.
I feel safe when I am in my room, the temptation is very strong when I am outside near bars. I will just remind myself that its not worth it.

Welcome to SR! Congrats on your decision to be sober. Giving up alcohol is honestly the best decision I've ever made, and this place has helped me a great deal. You'll find lots of great support and encouragement here.
